I think I have finally settled on a preferred style of painting - realism with a touch of impasto. This painting of Mendocino coastline is one such creation - Coast line painted with brush and the mustard done with the knife.
Would you have guessed the place if I didn't tell you ?
The challenge for this painting is to use expressionism style - not use the traditional colors that you will see in a realistic painting. Purple ocean and green rocks , Hmmm.. As much as my daughter loves this, I am not sure if I'll do the same style again.
I am a self-taught artist with a passion for painting and photography. I have been painting as a hobby for many years and love using various media including oil, acrylic, watercolor and oil pastels. Mostly I take photos of scenes that catch my eyes and transform them into a painting. California's colorful landscapes from the water’s edge to mountaintops are a constant source of my artistic inspiration. I love using vivid colors and texture in my landscapes and florals to express the beauty of the scene I am painting.
